Description
The old post cemetery at Fort Leavenworth has some interesting scenes. Here we have an Unknown soldier from some unmarked date in the 19th century almost lost in the embrace of a protective old tree.
Thanks for stopping by.

Great and unique shot
Beautiful photo.
Gorgeous Bill and your dreamy postwork just adds to the mood. It reminds me of the grave of the unknown soldier in Arlington, DC... :)
What a marvellous find, and you have done it proud!
Yes, this tree is like a guardian angel for this soldier. Excellent shot idea.
Wonderful picture!!!
Excellent remembrance of this fallen soldier. Great work.
At first look I though it seemed almost sad that this last resting place seemed out of the way and neglected but looking again the headstone is well cared for and as you point out the tree seems protective of this fallen soul. Stunning capture Bill.
Very touching image, Bill. Well seen and taken.
Interesting image!! :)
Super capture - nice display of this meaningful place.
That's sad, isn't it? What a cozy place to rest; under that tree. Thanks for sharing this... nice shot. :)
Fantastic work Bill! Love the post work!
Well seen, Bill! Great shot and postwork, perfect title!
Excellent shot!
A beautiful photo. Excellent. Symbolic. Thanks for sharing. Brings a few tears to my eyes.
"Embraced" in his country's Heartland.
Wonderful image. I like the soft postwork.
This is what I would hope for, for myself... to become a part of the land in some meaningful way. Excellent shot.
Interesting to see how the tree moves in and yet it would be an easy marker to find this tombstone grave. Salute to the unknown solder.. Aloha
I have been asked why do trees grow so beautiful in graveyards.I say well they are not for lack of fertilizer. the first military memorial I was in is at Manila Philippines.I was in awe of so many graves in one place.gives a sense of feeling for the travesties of war excellent capture
From now to beyond this photo of the past, this I hope...even though the name and time may be lost forever, the spirit of this person & thousands more kmow on some level that we the living...never forget... Well done on the edge filter...grand eye...
such a symbolic shot, Bill, and you added to the feeling with your postwork...very well done!
Lovely tribute. There are many of them. Too many. Excellent work!
What an atmosphere there is to this. It's a wonderful picture. Great find.
Stellar lighting and tilt-shift effects on display in this fine memorial image, Bill. Seems to be floating in air.
He looks really at home here in this trees embrace. Excellent capture.
A remarkable image! The tree has obviously grown up around it. It makes a fine and unusual memorial. Embraced in the strong arms of an old tree! Impressive! In this country mind, the tree would have been hacked down and the stone pushed over by the council because its 'not safe'! Welcome to P.C. Mad Britain! Brilliant shot, Bill. Rob (the bitter one!)
Gone but not forgotten.Another unique capture Bill, great postwork too.
Always sad to see this. Good photo.
