Description
If you are looking for something novel, you might like to try a little tilt-shift photography. My two frame example uses the Kansas City Union Railroad Station as its center piece.
Both THROBBE and blinkings have posted several examples of tilt-shift photography/post work in the last couple of days and inspired me to look into this.
What is it? The end result should yield a photo that takes a full size scene and converts it to look like a scale model.
THROBBE and blinkings have used different techniques. Here is a third technique: Click here for explanation
Is there a practical use? Probably not...just a fun technique to experiment with...
Thanks for looking. And many thanks for all your comments and favorites. You all are the best.
Bill :-)

I love the top one! Excellent shot, great view! Been twice over there!
Very nice Bill! I think your image turned out great and is a fantastic example of the "tilt-shift" technique! Ray
Lovely work Bill!
Wow, fun stuff, just what I need---more ways to tweak my fotos!!!
This is so cool. I love the fountain - it looks like a CD in the "model" shot.
It does look like a model set out against a backdrop. Interesting.
Great job with this. And thanks for the tutorial for PS. I have been looking for a tutorial for that program.
Fantastic work.
Interesting!
Great effect Bill. I just love it. Not beeing around for a couple of days, I missed the other uploads so this is new to me. Will read up on it and play around myself!!!! :)
Great Bill!
Cool idea and experiment....!!!!!
Very nice results Bill! :)
Looks like a perfect example of the technique. :)
Lego anyone. That is so cool, never seen this before, just speeechless......... Brilliant! off to find more of these, thanks Bill.
Fun exploration of the tilt shift technique, or fake-model photography as I like to call it. I'll have to give this a go in IR. I appreciate all of your comments on recent images. Just uploaded a new one for ya!
I goin' to Kansas city, here I come.going to get me one of those Kansas city women..haha never been there not yet any way.excellent results from your post work and cityscape
How interesting! I suppose it could be useful if you just wanted to concentrate on your middle subject and mist out the rest of the view due to being of no interest? Thanks for sharing your wisdom Bill, I hadn't heard of this technique before, I am the lady who just takes random shots and hopes for the best lol, hugs Jane xx
Well, I see everything's up to date in Kansas City. I really like the effect here and the bottom shot does appear to be a scale model. The tilt-stift method looks like something I do with some of my filters, such as varifocus. Thankx for the method reference info.
How interesting! It really does make a difference.
It is interesting to see the two pictures for comparison.A good effect.
Interesting effects.
Certainly interesting, mate. And yes, you probably right in saying there is no practical use for it. (Sends my head screwy, personally!) But, it is fun to look at, but I also DO prefer the top one!! Great uninterrupted view! Good shot! Rob.
Intresting..I find the Tilt Shift to look so clear at the Union Railroad Station that it almost looks like a minature..Cool effect!
that's interesting, Bill, thanks for giving the example and I do like the result...will have too look up the how to do in the forum...
It's clever and you have done well! Just it's not for me, I think the original looks best.
Yeah I definitely see it. Great work Bill.
Awesome! Looks like a micro city taken with macro lens :-)
