Description
Several of you have asked to see the two old stores featured in my halloween-like presentations of the last two days...in their unaltered state.
So, here they are in all their ancient despair. Wooden buildings of this age don't fare too well. Hope you see why I gave them special treatment...bringing them to life as color negatives.
I've been in the false front building. White Cloud is a forgotten, sleepy town of only about 220 souls except in May and September. During that time the best flea market in the four state area of Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri is right here.

Beautiful buildings and excellent collage :)
Love'em', bottom pic just needs an old timer sat in that chair with a shotgun across his knee, suckin on a corn cob pipe.I've always been fascinated by these slab fronted buildings, I assume they where made like that for a reason or was it just to save the effort of cutting it to the pitch of the roof?. Thanks Bill a couple of belters.
I love that there is a NO tresspasing sign on this... LOL
I see a happy face on the top house window. Not sure what that bottom house window says, maybe a bullet hole?
I like these images Bill. I think they are part of the history of this country and the old paint and texture are outstanding!
ah this is interesting, Bill, they hav a character those buildings and you did very well to make them special in your negative shots...smile
So many small towns in the West are drifting away. Thanks for this wonderful photographic record.
