Description
Several of you have asked to see the two old stores featured in my halloween-like presentations of the last two days...in their unaltered state.
So, here they are in all their ancient despair. Wooden buildings of this age don't fare too well. Hope you see why I gave them special treatment...bringing them to life as color negatives.
I've been in the false front building. White Cloud is a forgotten, sleepy town of only about 220 souls except in May and September. During that time the best flea market in the four state area of Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri is right here.

great fotos show us more of these kind of buildings plz.
I've always loved the false front buildings. There is such a history about them and their origins. Interesting to see them without your special treatment. :-)
Stunning images and fascinating buildings... I really loved what you did with them Bill! :)
Great shots Bill. I would imagine you could find any number of old treasures in places like that...and thats probably just the staff! Speaking about false fronted buildings, car yards around here do it all the time. They have a massive facades at the front, and a tin shed at the back!
It's so interesting to see the originals! Great shots in their own right - the textures of those old boards are wonderful. Good stuff!
Very impressive looking old buildings Bill. Nice to see them this way too.
That's great! I like them even better this way, as I can see all the things I might purchase. I'll have the woodpile for starters, and the galvanised bath.
I think my niece lived there for a while; I'll have to ask her if she ever saw those other versions--but these are charming old buildings!!
Lovely old treasures! :)
Ahh. No thanks about entering the top image store - long past its time. It does look like the present in the background with some sort of silos. More fun as the spooky images IMO.
The wood has some pretty neat textures, and the olde worlde feel is fantastic, nice shots Bill.
Great. I always wonder what these building were like in "their day" Who were the people? Many questions. Thanks. We have some GA mountain snow going on here. Nothing like you guys have but for the "Sunny South" a real treat.
These old buildings have such charm, and I'm glad you showed the originals. If only those walls could talk!
Really cool shots! Lots of history I'm sure. :)
very cool looking old buildings; they make for great subjects to photograph! Great find ... thanks for sharing Bill :)
Ahh. Fleas. Explains everything. You've documented a bygone era for sure.
I love these old buildings I travel the country side just looking for some interesting shots of this type. These are fantastic makes the imagination run wild. Great images and captures!!!!!!
Great Bill, I love seeing these old buildings, really quite marvelous for us in the Islands to see. We don't have anything like this at all.
I marvel at your photo journalism... there is a book waiting to be authored by you....
Needs a lotta repairs the one that's for sale... Great collage, Bill!
Looks like the shops you see in the middle of nowhere in horror films, all a bit spooky.
Say, those stores don't look so menacing as seen during the daytime! Sharp clarity and lots of character depicted in these great captures, Bill!
Great capture and nice looking old buildings
They do have a lot of character but your treatment really brightened them up and gave them a different spin.
I have to agree with Nancy above.I love the old wood textures
I love these old buildings. The bottom one reminds me of a saloon, I thought that on the previous posting of it. These are great shots this way or in your previous postings.
Great to see them in their natural condition. excellent couple of shots Bill, fasinating old stores!
Stunning, relics from the past. Not forgotten! Very well done, Clive
I now have visions of two store keepers sat outside on rocking chairs chewing tobacco and perhaps playing banjos lol.. these are two wonderful photos that transport us back in time... super shots and thank you for sharing :)
Stunning shots of an amazing piece of 'history'! One of those towns that time passed by. The wood is brilliant. Full of colours and textures! Lovely shots. Well done. Rob.
