Description
This F-15B, tailnumber 837 has canards and vectored thrust and served as an Intelligent Flight Control System (IFCS) research testbed aircraft for NASA Dryden.
This picture was taken in April 1997 at Nellis Air Force Base, NV and later scanned.

...an Eagle with vectored thrust? Interesting that NASA would retro-fit an F-15,and that it could,considering it's size and shape...a precursor,perhaps to the Raptor!
@YARDOBE. I suspect you are right. They used it (and some F-16s) to explore thrust vectoring. I saw some footage of an F-16 with vectored thrust. Amazing what they can do.

This is an F-15SMTD "Stall Maneuver Technology Demonstrator" it was the testbed for the directional thrust Engine exhaust on the F-22 and beyond stall manuvers it was built off of a B model
