Description
I captured this male ostrich last weekend at the Lion and Rhino Park I went with my brother and sister-in-law for a picnic... That is now after we wiggled ourselves through the very narrow and very low tunnels of the Sterkfontein Caves... (but that's another story) This wildlife park is about 40km from where we live and hosts a great deal of awesome animals... amongst other rhino, lion, wilddogs, sable antelope and many more... This guy was 'showing off' right next to the road just before we left late afternoon.
Thank you for stopping by and for your very valued comments and favs on my happy summer flower of last night!
Take care.
Hugs, Carin xx
Do zoom for detail of the ostrich's facial features!!!!

A stunning bird, a bright and wonderful sky too
Wonderful photo.
Awesome capture Carin.Me and my family visited this park already.I am a bit scared to go there.Someone were shot by robbers in the restaurant and died there at that same moment the person was shot. The person just walked from the toilet to the table where his wife and kids were waiting for him.If i can remember correctly all the money of the restaurant as well as the earnings at the gate were stolen. What a sad story.I think this happened some time last year.I will search and see if i can find the article of this specific incident.
Great shot! after watching Mike Rowe's episode of Diry Job's where he went to an Ostrich Farm, I have a lot of respect for those birds.
fantastic capture a slight low angle add for his mightiness. Love the clouds as well.
Mr Ostrich is a fine character! wonderful shot and commendable dreamy postwork!

Superlative composition of the proud bird as it poses for your applause and awe, Carin! I would comment more extensively but I'm running late today.
They always seem to just pose for you. I would love to see here what you see there. Thanks for sharing.
Great capture of this fearsome bird! He's a beauty!
