Description
I have a whole family of Hadedas (Ibis family) nesting in a huge tree in my neighbours yard. Most of the tree however is hanging over on my side. About a week ago three babies fell (or were kicked out) of the nest. One died from the fall. I didn't see it and my gardener removed it. These two were then left. The one in front had a slight limp. I think he might have sprained a muscle with the fall. I called a nearby shelter for injured wild animals and they encouraged me to keep an eye out and see if the mother still feeds them before bringing them in.
Sadly, the one at the back died two days ago. We suspect that the mother knew he was weak and only fed the front one.
I am happy to report that his leg healed completely and his mother feeds him regularly. He is strong and now started hissing at us when we get too close. He has taken up the one small pond in the front yard as his haven!!!! Hold thumbs with us that the little guy makes it!
Thank you for popping in and for your valued comments and favs on my previous upload.
Have a great weekend!
Hugs, Carin xx

Interesting birds... hope their mother won't abandon them... Excellent shot!
Hope the little guy makes it! Nice capture and work!
Wonderful and very creative work
Isn't it amazing...you begin by taking a simple photo or two...then you find yourself online checking out pertinent facts...then approaching a caretaker's role. What next? I know, it happens to me too. Excellent photo with an A-1 narrative. Bill
I HAVE GOT TO COME DOWN THERE ONE OF THESE DAYS. I LIKED THE WAY YOU FRAME YOUR SHOTS.
Beautiful capture and presentation. I like very much your interesting animal shots.
Excellent capture Carin.A few years ago on new years day a Hadida landed on one of our transformers.needles to say.We lost our station and a lot o current went through the Hadida.Would later on hear that the Hadida survived but lost his leg.
lovely photo ! thats sad about them :(
I have never heard or these birds, they are very colourful with such detail in their feathers. A great capture
wonderful presentation and sound sad about the birds, u did great shot of them.
So beautiful...
Wonderful photo. Holding thumbs with you for the little guy. I have a feeling that if they had to fall into a yard -- yours was probably the best one. Move slowly, talk softly to him and I'll bet he will quit hissing at you soon.
Sweet capture & good luck with your new charge...never heard that holding thumbs saying before. Will do it anyway.
What beautiful exotic birds, Carin. Sad story, but that is nature and the way of the wild. Thanks for sharing your wildlife with us!
wonderful and tender capture, they look lovely !
Stellar foto and accompanying narrative in this upload of the poor avians, Carin!
Beautiful image, sad story but that is nature survival of the fittest weather by design or not KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful picture and great story! Mother Nature knows what's best, contrary to what we humans want!
Beautiful birds-- love the iridescent feathers. Funny, the back one looks larger, but maybe it was ruffled feathers. Great capture! One is better than none, at least.
What beautiful birds! It is sad when they are pushed from the nest. I will keep my fingers crossed that the one does survive.
Beautiful birds, and though it seem sad, it is nature's way of taking care of things. I love the colors!!
They seem so interesting, as we have nothing such as them here. I hope the survivor makes it. It is sad that the rules of nature seem so harsh, but when the strongest survive, then it makes the species stronger. We have such wonderful life on this planet, and we should take care of it, just as you had planned to do to search for a rescue group for the baby birds. I hope all is well now.
Such amazing birds! I've never seen anything like them. Wonderful capture!
interesting shot and story. Happy New Year!
a sad story but glad at least the one made it...smile...wonderful capture
