"Over the river and thru the wood,

Here we are, one day before Christmas...I imagine none of us ever went in a sleigh but this photo taken at the Missouri River brought the words written by Lydia Maria Child to mind.

Very nice composition. Brrrr. We used to try to cross the river on the floating ice. If our parents found out, I think they would have killed us! But it's just a memory--those pieces were much thicker than these. :D

I think I may have rode on a sleigh, at least a hayride.the river is down right hospitable.can you imagine some fool hardy folks going swimming in similar water? super landscape and Merry Christmas

A wonderful winter image. I did go in a sleigh in Sudentenland (sometime between 1943 or 1944). It was just about the only transporation we had. Very soothing on the nerves.
