Description
Let me take you in out of the cold and snow for today's posting.
I've always been fascinated by winding stairways.
This photo was taken in September 2008 in a stately old mansion in Sag Harbor, New York. The house dates to the 1840s (that's old for us colonials:-)). In its' next life it became a Masonic Hall in the 1890s and today serves as a whaling museum.
Thanks for stopping by,
Bill

Excellent shot, Bill! Well seen! My very first girlfriend used to live in a house like this one, with winding stairs, and believe me, they were giving me dizziness every single time!
love the color contrasts, and the POV is terrific!
Great perspective. With school out for the holidays, I expect there to be sliding, giggling bodies zooming down.
Wow, this is simply amazing, almost makes me dizzy--a great capture!!
Great POV! Beautiful architecture!

Love the POV, colors and light!
Stunning pov. Unique perspective.
Fantastic shot Bill, love this pov.
I know you can get a crick in the neck by looking up, but can you also get vertigo from this vantage point? The top resembles an inverted empty ice cream cone with a hole in the bottom. To me, winding stairwells have always meant something evil and malevolent lurking at the end of the climb.
Oh, I like this. I also have been fascinated by spiral stairways.
Awesome POV and capture!
Wonderful! I'll never see the spiral staircases the same way. Hehe.
I have built staircases a few times but I would never have taken on a project like this..outstanding capture and craftsmanship
What a glorious piece of architecture! Beautiful photograph, my friend ... simply stunning.
Nice swirl/twist shot. Interesting.... Excellent.... Aloha
Marvelous POV and shot Bill! Aside from the beauty of the architecture, for me it creates a very beautiful abstract! Its wonderful that it was preserved and is still in use today! There are so many of these beautiful old homes where I am the city is tearing these old beautiful homes down:-( Thanks for sharing this one!
