Description
The ruins of the Roman Theatre are located below the Medieval Wall surrounding the City of Volterra, Tuscany.
The construction of the Roman Theatre began in the 1st century B.C., and the Roman Baths, located behind the Theatre, were built in the 4th century A.D.
During the Medieval period the area was used as a rubbish dump completely burying the Roman Theatre and Baths until excavationby began in 1951 by the Volterran archeologist Enrico Fiumi.
This picture was taken in July 1997 and later scanned.

Wonderful and very creative work
That's fantastic!
Beautiful capture and scene!
Cool. I am always amazed at how they made these wonders with their technology back then. Wonderful capture. Aloha
Fantastic shot! :)
Fantastic scene and capture Sig! :)
Google is no assistant. I once looked up flake in the Encyclopeida Brittanica and it said the little theaters like side shows that were built into the foundation of the Roman colosseum. This was from an iconic use by my ex-wife of Dr. Flake a neighbor who was a podiatrist. It may have been our proximity to Hollywood at the time that created this microdefinition of an archaic special term
ohhh - das ist ja mehr als interessant!!! Sehr schönes Foto!!!

this is fantastic shot and great info sig...thanks for sharing this to us..
An amazing sight to see Sig, it is hard to image how they built the things they did, how they got those pillars to stand so tall, when we have problems now, even with the technology that we have. It is also difficult to image they were buried as deep as they were, even some of the taller remains completely covered. Excellent capture, I like this sort of thing and could spend hours walking round taking pictures. Thanks for sharing. Bravo!!!!!
A very interesting photo!
