Description
During brief afternoon rain showers people are taking shelter under the 5-ft. wide covered walkways that run along all store fronts in Chinatown and Little India, Singapore. These walkways allow people to move while it rains or stay out of the sun. The problem is that these sidewalks don't have an uniform height or texture. So it is contantly a little up or down, and, if the surface is wet, some surfaces get slick, others don't. To compound the problem many store displays spill onto the sidewalk itself and reduce the already narrow width.
This picture was taken in Chinatown, Singapore in January 1996 and later scanned.
