Description
Capture Time: 6 a.m., October 15, 2008.
Had to try out my new 70-300mm (140-600mm equivalent) Olympus Zuiko lens. It just so happened that the moon was full here on October 15th. Here's the result. Decided to stay with the green tint rather than a corrected white...green cheese you know.
Also photographed the moon waning on 16 and 17 October but in my opinion the full moon looks better :-)
Thank you for your comments. Please take a look at this full-size.
Next full moon is November 13th here in Kansas...I'll try again. I think I may be able to capture a bit more detail the next time around if the clouds don't interfere.
Best to all you moon watchers,
Bill
P.S. Kudos to David (Fred255). He thought of this idea first. :-)

AWESOME!!
WOW! This IS a spectacular moon capture. Very detailed.
That must be some lens! Great detail and clarity:)
The lens and the photographer did a great job...
Bill, this is a dream shot! I have never been able to get the definition in the moon, but of course, I do not have the equipment for things like this. This is an amazing shot with magnificent clarity. A most stellar shot!
Super Bill! This has worked out very well!
Great shot. Must be quite a camera you have.
great exposure, quite nice detail, well done!
I'm a moon person...I love to look at it and when no one is looking, I'll sit there at night and talk to Mr. Man In The Moon....this one is beautiful and I did zoom in on it....a great capture!
Wonderful capture Bill can see the craters, Excellent well done..
Great shot Bill, I've tried this so many times but haven't got it right yet. This is beautifully detailed and I think going with the green tinge was the right choice.
Awesome capture. Love the detail. My attempts at these kind of shots always come out fuzzy. Beautiful work.
Really lovely shot!
Of which I am one too. A beautifully detailed shot full size Well done Bill.
AWESOME! Gotta get me a 300mm lens. Wonderful and green looks better! Rob.
Super detail! Excellent
This is a masterpiece of a moon photo. Excellent details!!
Oh Bill - this is fantastic! (Tks for the sitemail!) The detail you have managed to capture is very impressive. I have too much light noise here in the city and would really like to get out into the bush sometime at full moon to try and get a similar shot. I would also like to do star trails... I know the perfect place here in SA to do that. Think I must drag Bruce there soon!!! Wonderful work! :)
wow, this is amazing!!!!! Beautiful shot Bill!
Wow! The clarity of the craters around the perimeter are amazing!
Really great shot. All the astronomy bods say that the moon is best shot away from full, but you've got a good'un here. btw have you tried using a polarizing filter? It can work quite well on the moon. Clouds are great, but they really are the bane of the astronomers life :-)
super moon shot...!
Verrrry niiiiiice! Enjoy that new lens!
great Shot!!
