Description
Took this close-up shot of a Mallard duck who wasn't at all concerned about a human standing five feet away. Location is a public duck pond in East Hampton, New York.
East Hampton has another great old cemetery. This town on eastern Long Island was home to some of the earliest English settlers in New York. In the early years of the 1600s, the Dutch "owned" Manhattan Island (New Amsterdam) and their influence spread eastward on Long Island but the English/British were coming and soon sent the Dutch packing!
Of course none of this means anything to this Mallard does it?
I left this image large...open it up for great detail...feathers and all.
