Description
In the summer of 2000 the production crew for the movie "Pearl Harbor" borrowed the museum aircraft carrier USS Lexington in Corpus Christi, Texas and redecorated her as a Japanese carrier, then changed her make-up to appear as the WWII USS Hornet (CV8). The military aircraft on flightdeck display had to move to make room for WWII era "Japanese" planes and North American B-25 Mitchell bombers. I missed the planes being moved off the Lexington, but I was there after the filming to see the planes being put back.
A LTV A-7 Corsair II begins it's journey from the barge to the flightdeck while a McDonnell F-4 Phantom II and a Douglas A-4 Skyhawk wait their turn. Two more pics will follow in this series.

I remember a Squadron of A-7's flying in to RAF Wittering, my local base. They came on a exchange visit. They flew right over my head, plane after plane after plane. Great stuff. Thanks for this shot, Rob

Great shot Rog. They look a little like the F-8 but are shorter and sub-sonic. When they used to fly, and we refueled them, sometimes when they flew behind us in formation, the tanker crew sometime accelerated and when we (the tanker) turned the outside A-7 had a hard time keeping its position in the formation.
