Description
Tourmakeady is a beautiful gaelic speaking rural community in the heart of Mayo. Close to my wifes family where we stayed on my Months photography trip. It is a stretch of land that would almost resemble an Island. And I became enchanted by the scenery and the light and mood of the place.
My humble efforts never quite seemed good enough to really capture it's beauty and charm, and yet always so rugged and wild.
On its eastside we have Lough Mask, Lough Na Fuaithe to the south, the beautiful Partry Mountians to the west and Anach Mor Bog to the north. One might even think it has helped, to keep the Gaelic language alive to this day.
This community is part of three parishes, Finney to the south, Partry in the centre and Carnacon to the north.

You did great capturing this Danny; it's beautiful.
You might not be quite as happy as you could be with this shot Danny, but every body that views it is very happy with it I can tell you. It shows in the image that it was taken with love in the heart, and the write up just enforces that feeling. I'm sure that if anybody from that region in County Mayo saw this image they would be proud to say 'Thats where I live.' It looks like a bit of a slipway here with the two rows of rocks, I wonder if that is the case? You have captured the essence of the lough and the mountains beyond, if it could be bottled it would sell like hot cakes. Outstanding capture, composition and presentation. Bravo!!!!!

absolutely beautidul landscape ! I think I need to take a trip over there ..all my relatives come from Ireland .. I traced my great ( 4 times I think )grandfathers back to the 1740's! in Limerick Ireland
