Description

P-51 Mustang waiting for tower clearance to taxi for takeoff. Highly polished top-of-the-line fighter from the World War II era flies together with a modern day F-15 Eagle in what the Air Force bills as a "Heritage Flight". These flights first began in 1997 and have been a big hit at every airshow since. Jets are neat but the throaty roar of a huge piston engine swinging a fifteen foot prop is hard to beat. Let's go, throttle up! For an aviation buff, this sight is sublime. Hope everybody else understands our enthusiasm :-)

I love the plane and your capture.nothing like hearing the roar and the ground vibrating from all those horse power when they make a low pass at 300 or more perhour

Nice capture. The Mustang's certainly one of my favorite prop jobs of all time.

I love this Bird. The P-51 is a breed unto itself, and this is a great capture with fine DOF.

Indeed, nothing like it. We get them in the U.K. as well now. Great shot again, lovely and clear, Rob.

Those birds are awesome! I was once told that the loud popping sound they make when in a dive or throttled way up is the props breaking the sound barrier. How cool is that?! Great capture.
