Description
I learned something new today! This shelter at the Japanese Garden at the Washington Park Arboretum is called an azumaya.
All I knew when I first saw it was that it created a bit of shade on a very hot day, and the underside of the roof was the perfect place to look at the harsh, mid-day light. All those angles and corners reflected the light beautifully, and I was entranced!
Thank heavens for Photoshop ... I was able to clean the cobwebs out of the corners without ever actually touching them. :)
This is my favorite shot from that day. What a surprise, huh? (... she said, laughing up her sleeve at herself ...) I admit it - I'm a sucker for interesting light, interior scenes, and partial views!
