Description
this is what I first saw when I was driveing down the road and I turned around to get some shots of them planting sugar cane. The cane they plant now will not be ready intill next year. it takes two years to grow.
In the back groung is the sugar mill. Oh I was so happy this one came out so good. I put the camera on auto for a few shots then I put it on manul lol wish I kept it at auto. My big error. Most likey will not be the last but hope it not many times this happens. I had it set for low lighting for the cajun jams I go to. lol.
Here you see the tractors pulling the trailers full of cane. the cane have eyes on them. IThe man I talked to show me the eyes two times. guess he thought I was going to take a photo of them but I did not caught on . Now i wish i did. I go and take some photos of canes eyes when it is sunny . Been raining here off and on for two days
anyway there is three men walking behind most the trailers pulling the cane out by hand and laying it down in the rows of dirt. Not on top the row but in the vally. I post the tractor that will cover the cane with two feet of dirt tomorrow

this is going to be a great serie, Jocko, excelent work and info !
....sehr gutes Foto von "Arbeitenden" !!!
Splendid shot my friend Jock.....!!!!!!
Great to see how its done Jocko, we don't have cane here in England(well I don't think so anyhow). We do have Sugar Beet though, mainly grown in the east of England, from south Yorkshire to Essex. Sugar beet provides about half of the UK's consumption, the rest being imported from cane growing countries. The work here looks very intensive, five tractors sowing the cane as I see it, its a wonder they don't crash into each other. I wouldn't want to drive one of those for a living, driving the same old rut day after day. Lol. Sorry I couldn't resist it.#;0) Excellent capture, the sugar mill in the background, I guess that cuts down on fuel costs, they don't have far to take the crop when its harvested. Great narrative and an interesting read, I didn't know it took so long to grow. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
well documented and excellent the contrast.....well done!
Great shot, Jock. Interesting story too. Sweet like sugar:)+5
Interesting text. I like this with the big factory behind - nicely done.
Fascinating to see!
Great shot, very ominous for some reason
Fascinating picture !
Sweet one Jock! ;)
Very cool. I like your image. 5+.
fantastic capture Jock! Great work!
Is that tall green in the backgrond sugercane ready to harvest. This is a great informative shot. Looks like hard work.
WTG Another Great shot
Super shot Jock :)
Wonderful photo! It's really fascinating to see how they do this kind of thing. You make me want to take my camera out to the farming country I grew up in. (Southwest corner of Michigan, where they grow the grapes used in Jelly and grape-juice)
Not only do I get to see a fabulous capture, but I get an education as well. Who knew cane had eyes? Who knew it takes two years to grow? Thanks Jock!
Great picture. It illustrates the full process!
That smoke stack looks all to familiar as my Island was all sugarcane as I was growing up. Excellent shot and memories within me. Aloha
A big crew and hand work for this.
