Yes folks, Space Science Digest reached it's 50th issue, but what a bombshell!
News that radio signals were being picked up from the Moon overshadowed the 50th, and meant it went by unnoticed.
What were these signals?
What did they say?

So not only do we get messages from the moon mate, you have the young Patrick Moore in this issue too, I thought this issue had disapeared, wonderful, you don't by any chance have the later one when Mr Moore and that young American chap Carl Sagen do their discussion about life on other worlds do you mate, it ends up starting that whole USUK Uranus expedition that was planned, it was such a shame the lack of technology at the time scuppered this

The signals were so strong that amateur radio operators could pick them up. While officially the signals were random bursts, some of the ham operators said that the message was in Morse code. The message, "C A V O R" repeated over and over again. One newspaper reported that Professor Quatermass' father had been taught by a Professor Cavor. When reporters asked, Professor Q would just say, "No comment!"
