Description
"rainbows in the sky" or clouds that have brilliant colors.
It's due to those high, wispy clouds . Those clouds are made of tiny ice crystals, and if the cloud is at the right angle to the sun, the crystals will refract the sunlight (much like a prism) into the colors of the rainbow.
So it's very similar to a regular rainbow-when-it's-raining, only a little more rare.
thanks for viewing and any comments
the two specks are a bird and a Southwest airline jet.I have seen such clouds before but they were near the horizon and only with a 300 lens

We get pink and yellow on our clouds in the winter looking East around midday when the sun is well West. This appears at the base.

I've never seen anything like them before myself Richard and thanks for the details on them to help me enjoy them even more.
Oh yes very cool great capture. Have a wonderful weeked
You have captured so much depth in these clouds...they seem to go on forever. How small and insignificant the jet seems way up there among the clouds.
Gorgeous! I've seen these before too, and they're amazing - really excellent capture!

Sublim capture Richard!
Great depth, beautiful
beautiful :-)
I believe! Great to see!
Amazing soft colors, you had a great time capturing these wonders I am sure.
Nice shot again
The light is divided by the prisms created within the clouds much like that scene in PollyAnna when she holds the crystal up and creates rainbows on the wall. This is gorgeous and its a special moment captured very well.
