Description
I went away this past weekend with my son and granddaughter to a family gathering about 5 hours drive away. It was exhausting to say the least. Late afternoon yesterday, after we said our goodbyes to Kayla, we took the last stretch home when we were stopped in a +- 3km line at an accident scene. Dust was hanging in the veldt from cars having to travel on the shoulder of the road to get passed the scene and in the distance was the smoke of a bush fire. I just found it a perfect picture moment. Admittedly the dust and smoke played havoc with my sinusses and I am getting sick again. Grrrrrrr....
I am missing all of you on RR, but things at work is really crazy and I am not doing very well with catching up!! I am trying though!!!
Thank you for popping in and for your very valued comments on this image as well as previous uploads.
Hugs, Carin xx

....eine sehr schöne Aufnahme!!!!
these smoke clouds can be a frightening thing when you are out in the savanna.
pretty cool shot.
We can do without the bush fire I think, hope no one was seriously injured in the accident. Excellent atmospheric shot Carin, great on the count down, 1 month to go, now thats a low number. Bravo!!!!!
Very dramatic and ominous, I can almost hear the crackling noise of twigs and branches catching fire. Too bad about your sinus! :( Why don't you tell us it was the annual get together of "some RR members" in Bloemfontein, lol!
Except for the foliage (or lack of...) in this shot, it is most familiar to me, having lived in this type of air for nearly a month. It is much better now with only a hint of smoke smell lingering. It almost seems to be something out of a Stephen King novel...
powerful image!
A definite "atmosphere" piece of work! Great shot Carin!! Hope your sinuses are getting better as the "alarming speed" of the countdown continues ... lol.
Excellent shot!:)
Great shot!
Great Highveld winter scene. The Cape is so green! Cheers, Clive
Oh Carin, here is a pict that I adore!++++++++++++
Wonderful shot.
Simply stunning capture Carin! So sorry about your sinuses, doesn't seem to take much anymore to wreak havoc with mine, feel better!!! (((C)))
Great scene though I hope that nobody was hurt in the accident, countdown being followed closely lolxx
Wow!! Fantastic scene!! Splendid capture!!!
Awesome mood atmosphere in this interesting shot, Carin. Looks like a scene from a WWI or II battlefield.
Looks like it could be a tornado off in the distance as well. Great shot!!
I love the subdued colors of this, even if the cause isn't so nice...I hope you feel better soon, got to get that strength up!
Hard to believe it's only a month away now! :) Soon you'll be counting in the twenties. Whoo-hoo! Don't worry about getting caught up ... just take care of yourself!
Excellent capture Carin.Come Dday Carin can't wait for Bruce's arrivel.
Very dramatic! I can almost smell the dust and late afternoon smoke...

Beautiful soft pastel colors and hues. A very pretty scene, if one did not know the conditions behind the image. Hope the sinuses clear up soon!
