I must say a huge thanks again to everyone who favourited my last image 'Tranquil Evening' as it got me to 20th in this weeks 'Favourites Image' Art Chart ... so THANK YOU !!!!
Todays upload is something new for me as everything was done in Photoshop. It is made up of parts of 14 different photographs, 38 layers and took me 3 days to complete. I did this after seeing some fantastic 2D artwork on 3dtotal.com.
The idea behind this one was to take an image of the inside of the busy London Museum and to place it in the future after all human life has ceased. There are a couple of images on 3dtotal.com that used the same base image for a competition and is also where my inspiration came from.
I removed all the people and displays from the museum via the 'eraser' and 'clone stamp' tools, demolished some of the walls, windows and roof, again via the 'eraser' tool as well as manually painting in the cracks to the structure and ageing the brickwork.
I applied the same technique to the cathedral in the background and also added Big Ben.
Next up was to take a picture of a London bus, remove the driver, passengers, roof and some of the windows as well as smashing the remaining windows and aging the paintwork. The same was done with the abandoned car which I flipped onto its roof and part buried in some rubble.
The sky was created by cloning and overlaying parts of some photographs of mine and fiddling with the brightness and saturation levels.
Foliage was then added by cloning plants, branches and a tree from numerous other photographs.
Every layer was then transformed and skewed in order to get the overall perspective correct.
Finally I rendered the lighting on everything to throw light onto the far end of the museum.

Tony, I can tell the dedication it took to do all this work in Photoshop- Photoshop has been my bread and butter for some 20 years since it appeared and my first jobs in publishing/design layout etc were to make ads/ book covers up to order etc. And I worked for an architect for 2 year 'visualising' his clients' projects - this before the new 3D applications came along and gives my age away. In the early days before layer masks and adjustment layers etc we used to have to use alpha channels for a lot of this work. Also no clone tools either - just option click the lasso tool for ever! Small CRT screens, expensinv but then comparatuively slow macs, but the best that wa savailable with massive RAM of maybe 1 MB (if we could afford it.) Run afilter and go and have a coffee while it ran. This is a beautifully inspired work and to be commended. It gives that 'holocaust' e.o.w. feeling and the sky tones do a lot of that, contrasted as it is against the nearly glowing architecture. This is excellent work and not to be passed by quickly- I only hope it doesn't get nicked like some of my work has, no doubt to end up in 'would be' designers portfolios. Congratulatiuons on your placing last week - it was my first time in the 'charts' too! (Now there's a word to conjure with!) To finish, I know that you will have done the original at 300 dpi in PS- ay least I really hope so or at least a huge 72dpi file! (And a good idea not supplying a larger low res one here!) Dave

thinking here of all the art that was in the building is goen.. Now all is lost but there is no one to see the arts anyway so the building is falling down as art is too and the people is gone. All is lost but nature still goes on and so will the seasons. the sun rise and set and the noom will ride it couse. none to look at this building or eyes to see; but time will keep on going. so wopnderful you made this image. sorry but I wrote what pop into my head as i looked on the image
