Description
Being an avid animal lover I have watched and listened to birds all my life. But this one is a first for me. I don't know if they even have these in Washington state and I do not recall ever hearing the sound they make. About five weeks ago the awesome male bird showed up in my backyard but was very skittish and always in a dark area where I couldn't get a clear shot. Now I know the sound as he moves nearer to the yard early morning each day.
But I was totally delighted to see this baby at the feeders about a week or two ago! I was only about 2 feet from the ground feeder when he flew down. He didn't seem as skittish as the adult bird and just went about eating while I stood there, but I remembered how skittish the adult was so I just quickly snapped a few shots. I tried the zoom but it wasn't good for this bird as he blended into the background too much. So its not a quality photo but again its a first for me!
I should also say that all of my firsts are because of my Alex. I had never been to New York before, he moved me here, nearly 3000 miles from my 'home'. Thats the biggest first!

Mmmm, I don't think I've ever seen one of those before. Interesting effects you've used to bring the eye in.
a great capture and presentation my friend.
Nice shot and presentation. Nice birdie :-)
Very beautiful work.
Blue jays are fun, very pretty in color and yet many dislike them for their habits... Great capture!
very nice photo! :)
terrific capture!
Great composition - excellent capture!
Great to see this!
Lovely, Lynn! Well done! :) Thanx!
I like blue jays very much.the usual birds around here are not very colorful so when I see a Jay or Cardinal, it is special.excellent work Lynne
Fantastice creation.
I love your "first". I also started off with the feeder being far and gradually moved the feeder for the fruit eaters to about 6 feet from a window. Now I do most of the captures from there.
Very nice pic! EXT work!
