Description
The Space Needle is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable bits of architecture around. The round part at the top houses an observation deck and a high-class restaurant. That's all it used to be, but now they sell souveniers and beverages, and it costs an arm and a leg to go up in the elevator. Nonetheless, Marilyn and I braved the lines and the wait and the people and the glass-front elevator to go up to the top and see the view!
Ahh yes ... and that round bit rotates a full turn every hour, so while you're dining in that high-class restaurant, you will eventually see the entire 360-degree view while sitting at your table enjoying something yummy.
The left-hand image is the Space Needle as seen from the ground, looking up.
The right-hand image is the shadow of the Space Needle as seen from the top, looking down.
Oh, here's an interesting little tidbit of information: In the last big earthquake we had about seven years ago, this building sustained ZERO damage. It's anchored to the ground by several bolts that are thirty-two FEET long.

...tolles Foto von diesem wunderbaren Bauwerk!
Once again an excellent idea and presentation! I don't think I've ever seen anyone show a picture of the shadow - great work!
Too high for me, excellent shots!
Too high for me too! I love seeing the view from the top down though since I've never seen a photo from that persepctive before. Both of these are great shots.
I like this one! Cool shots! 5
Excelent collage Tara. I realy like a shadow capture very unique view.
I remember when it was built they said it was one of the "new" eight wonders of the world. An incredible structure. I'm hot to see this thing. I imagine the restaurant is not cheap...
Oops...Vertigo here....lol I'm glad you guys did go up there. Must be a thrill... Excellent shot. Aloha
32 foot bolts, eh? Sounds like we should be ordering a trainload of those, judging from the dire warnings of the imminent 'big one' we keep getting! These shots are excellent, and I especially love that you photographed the shadow! Thank you for the enjoyable read, too!
I visited there some time ago, what a great place! Here we have something similar, called the Sunsphere which was built for the 1982 Worlds Fair, I wasn't living here at the time. But it stands there forever as a reminder, and a landmark...
Excellent work. This has always impressed me and your photos serve it so well!
Only Several??? LOL. Wonderful collage. I'm glad you braved the crowds. Did you get to eat in the incredibly expensive restaurant as well?
Great shots here, you and I just went round and round taking the same pix--but wow, this is way better than mine!!
We were there in 1997, and we enjoyed that view. I don't remember eating at the restaurant, but I'm sure we made off with a souvenir or two. ;o) I love Seattle! Then we headed on to Canada from there. Excellent capture, it brings back some great memories.
Very Cool photos. I've been up there a few times. :-)
I love towers like this.Dallas has a smaller version but it is closed until next year.CN in Toronto is even taller than this tower in Seatle excellent captures and I will look forward to the views from the top
Awesome perspectives and a great presentation.
Beautiful collage...
Another cool info-collage!!
love the right vue !! excellent.
Glass fronted elevator! Nooooooo way! But wonderful to see your pics without the ride!
great shots
WOOOW ! it looks fantastic, but no one would ever make me go up there :)))
Looking at the shadow it seems there is a flagpole or radio mast on the top, I would want to climb that as well Tara, to say I had been to the very top of the Space Needle. Lol.#;0) Two superb images, if I had to choose I would go for the shadow, and seeing how dear the food is up top, I can see the big M down below, so a burger in a bun would do me. Excellent images and narrative, I think you girls had as much fun as Alan and I do on our outings. I envy you though cause you had a full week of it. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
I think I'll stay on the ground :o) ....interesting intro, especially the bit about the 32 ft long bolts !!!...great shots Tara !
Stunning collage of this Seattle landmark!!! I have already marked it as a definite to visit when Bruce and I go back to the Island!!! :)
Great architecture shot at the left - and the shadow play from above is gorgeous, too! Thanks for sharing!
One more shot would have made it complete, One from the outside elevator either going up or coming down Excellent shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent composition!!! :)
