Description
It appears that I have quite unintentionally misled some of you, and I want to take this opportunity to clear up a few misconceptions.
Jill and I did not just stumble upon Lake Billy Chinook. She knew exactly where she was going and what we were going to see, and we went there on purpose. However, she did not tell me what it looked like or show me pictures before we went. So I was totally surprised, gob-smacked and blown away by this huge lake in a place that appeared to be perfectly flat.
I was never more than a few yards from the car. I did not climb anywhere, I did not hike, and I wasn't hanging off any cliffs at any time. I am a middle-aged, gray-haired lady in flip-flops and a straw hat with a camera, and I acted accordingly. The camera has a zoom feature - I do not! LOL!
Full view, of course! (I hope this didn't turn out to be too horribly compressed.)

Hah! I knew it! LOL! That first photo at the top here has the most amazing light I've ever seen captured -- well done! And for the record, I've never even heard of this place, much less seen pictures. It's a wonderful, lovely place!
I'm not sure which I like more - your pictures or your commentary. Both are top rate.
A middle-aged lady with hair of gray? You sure had me fooled. After all this time I would have sworn you were an exact replica of Nicole Kidman or Sharon Stone. Stellar collage of good old Lake Billy Bob Chinook, young lady! The heavily textured canyon walls look most formidable in their stark grandeur. And you wear flip-flops to trod upon that treacherous terrain? I would be wearing ankle-high steel-tipped boots with cleats.
rather impressive shots here Tara, what a wonderful place!
Beautiful capture on all this pictures..
Excellent collage.fascinating place, wonderful narrative........... (Who SAID you're middle aged, anyway?)

Oh, Tara! a great collage and I must say, I agree the top shot is absolutely stellar.
LOL. Great collage!
Quite a mix of scenery in these...if you look really close you can see people figures in the rock columns in number three..well..maybe after a couple of drinks..:) great shots...
What a scream, Tara! Middle aged? Pfufff!!! rubbish! I too find that flip flops are a perfect excuse for not doing anything unseemly. But I do have some 'serious sandals' as I can't keep out of water, I am drawn to it inexorably and have to at least paddle! SUPERB shots, I had no idea of the scale till I saw the bridge.
belles photos, belle présentation !!
Your captures are beautiful. I often drive to where I am going young lady. Do what you gotta do....it works. Excellent job. Aloha
great shots:
fantastic colors, light and perfect
Splendid views, thanks for sharing ;O)
Incredible beautiful places indeed. SO lovely and you captured them so nicely :)
Awww now you have blown the magic, owning up like that, you should never tell the whole truth, leave them guessing you hold onto them longer. Lol. I can just imagine you in your straw hat and flip flops, scaling the canyon walls for that perfect pov. You certainly have some great shots to remind you of your visit, shots you can look back on, so that you can visit the wonderful places time and time again. Superb images, and some of the pov's make it seem as though you were stood on the edge, even if you wasn't. Excellent work and presentation. Bravo!!!!!
Love the light! Awesome image.
Well if it had have been horribly compressed, which is is not, I'd have still been IMpressed, this is stunning work my friend, and your presentation works beautifuly...Doffs hat
