Description
Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image.
I decided to stop my week long posting of images that showed very tiny insects (about 1/8 inch or 4mm). The last image was not very good anyway, lol.
Here is another image instead that really is not much better but I was fascinated by the juicy look of these Dewberries and tried to capture that "juicy" look, lol. By the way, a Dewberry is a wild cousin of a Blackberry.
In truth, the red berries on this image are not ripe and actually are not all that juicy. They are also very very tart, lol. The black ones are ripe. The darker the better. When they fall free from the vine at the slightest touch, They are ready to eat. At that time, they are indeed very very juicy and very very sweet. I look forward to a bumper output this year. The various wild patches on my place are thick with new green berries. Hopefully, in a few weeks, I will be inundated with ripe fruit.
Thanks to those who take the time to comment.

Do you make wine or jam or anything with these??? they look beautiful!!!!!
Beautiful berry, wonderful macro!!
For a delicious jam or frozen :) excellent shot.
This is REALLY interesting! We have all sorts of stuff over here labelled 'dewberry', soaps, candle scents, etc, and I thought it was a made-up thing. And all along it was only blackberries! Thankyou for the info, and a shot showing both fruit and flowers.
This is so neat looking... Love this and all the different colors.... You would like my strawberry tattoo on my ankle grin Nice to meet you and adding this to favs... Hope you come visit me as well Hugs Susan~
Beautiful berry.Superb macro.
Tasty looking indeed!
I also thought it was just an American name for our English Blackberry Lee, so thanks for the interesting information. I used to go blackberry picking a lot when the fruit was ripe, my mother used to make jam and wine from them and them being free it helped very much with the house keeping, also eldeberry and elder flower were put to the same good use. Excellent image and information. Bravo!!!!!
It's a very good pic, Lee. Excellent colors and tasty lookin' (if not quite ready for tastin') berries.
A gorgeous and delicious capture! Love the colors in this. Bunny
YOUR MAKING ME HUNGRY. I USED TO PICK BERRIES WHEN I WAS YOUNG BACK IN PENSYLVANIA COAL COUNTRY. GEE THE GOOD OLD DAYS.
