Description
Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image.
This is the first image I have gotten of a male Twelve-spotted Skimmer. He is young though and still has the coloration of a female. It takes a bit of observation to differentiate between the male and female appendages at the back end but it is not impossible, lol. The mature male will develop white wing patches between the dark wing patches and it's tail will turn white.

Fascinating image - and a great shot!
Superb! In the UK we have no dragonflies with colour on the wings, and only one damsel, the Banded Demoiselle.
Great macro and focus in this shot.. Superb details I can see. Hugs
Excellent shot! The DOF is super and the detail is spectacular.
You certainly don't have a shortage of species on that 25 acres Lee, I think thats one of the reasons the little critters love you, the amount of space you give them to live in. Superb capture, you have a keen eye, I wouldn't know the difference between male and female, well maybe after a couple of years practice. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!
Fascinating. Keep it up.
mastefull macro.
What a beauty this is. Gorgeous shot. Bunny
