Description
This small islet is located about 1.5km northeast of Stromboli in the Aeolian Islands off the north coast of Sicily.
The lighthouse on this island is a cylindtical white tower 190-ft. above the water. The present tower was built in 1905. It serves as an active aid to navigation and the light characteristics are three white flashes every 15 seconds. It is not open to the public.

A most excellent shot, Sig! I love that staircase up to the lighthouse, and the sailboat gives everything scale. Lovely warm colors, too. This certainly looks like an excellent place for a lighthouse.

It would take me half the day to reach the top by those steps but oh, what a view! I'd pay to be the light keeper. I wonder how it weathers a storm! Awesome!

An awesome place, Siegfried. An estate agent's dream. Great view, no noisy folk next door, plenty of fresh air. No threat of global warming at that height, I suppose, but a neighbouring, grumbling volcano is a bit of a downer on the selling price .. ;o) Warm regards, from Springtime in Glasgow (yes it eventually arrived, with three good days in a row, and that's summer as well .. ;o( ;o) ), John

Now that is one desolate rock, Pj would pay to be the keeper? I would hate to live there and run out of milk. I'm just popping out for a pint of milk, those steps look a killer to me. If the volcano doesn't get you with the ash fallout the steps will. Fantastic pov you have here as well Sig, you must have been in the crows nest on a tall ship. Lol. Awesome capture. Bravo!!!!!
