Description
At first we thought maybe a pair of Bald Eagles had built this nest, at least we were hoping. We checked the nest each time we went hiking, which is a few times a week. Then we saw this guy, or girl, as the case may be. It's not an eagle but a fine bird all the same.
Thanks for Looking!
Ken

Good thing the camera zooms, or we still wouldn't know whwat it was. You captured this beautifully dear. Great shot.
nest far to ssmall for eagle this looks like american kestrel excellent photgraph
Awesome hawk. Good shot of him on the nest.
nice shot, from my book it's a Red Shouldered Hawk.
I have some other shots, but none very definitive. He may be a Red Shouldered Hawk. The nest is bigger than it looks in this picture, but yes, too small for Eagles. Ken
You certainly got that fine flattened head and the well-hooked beak. The power in the shoulders and neck is very evident. Splendid shot! How lucky you are to see this first-hand.
Fine looking critter, O.K. so it's not a bald eagle or two, but still a kool find and neat capture ! Now you can go back and see/capture the babies in the future ! Well done & ~Cheers~
Superb capture, Ken. Very well done. Looks very interesting!
Well caught!
Fantastic photo.
o.k., the bird shot is amazing... but the bark of the tree has me intrigued, very similar to our Gumtrees, better known as Eucalyptus in Australia, only one thing missing: the Koalas. Another one of natures miracles and not to forget, your patience! BB
What an outstanding find!!! I've never seen one of these nesting. This is fantastic!
