Description
Tawny owls are the most common and widespread owl in Europe. They are also the owl that emits the characteristic 'twit-twoo' call, although it is actually a duet between the male and the female. The male calls the twit which is typical lol!! and the female calls the Twooo.. Taken in a wooded display area two days ago when it had just started to rain.. Maria was holding this one at the time.
Thanks for taking time to look and for all your comments and also for those who have so kindly sent me such lovely messages on my GOM nomination..

Super shot and beautiful owl!
Congratulations with GOM, outstanding capture
Super capture and fine addition to the GOM! Congratulation again!
The face is so innocent looking. The feathers on the face give way to lovely eyes and a rather petite beak. This is not a large owl it seems but it seems to be compact and powerful. Outstanding!
Fantastic clarity and detail.Wonderful capture.

Fantastic! I'm smiling as I remember what a special experience it was to hold this magnificent creature for just a moment... so light, hardly weighs anything, yet such an awesome bird of prey. Thanks for that special opportunity!
