Description
It's the first manned mission to Mars in a brand new space craft design. Yep, we've finally managed to get there. They were hoping, however, that the huge dust storm circling the planet would be abated when they arrived. Unfortunately, it's just getting started.

Space craft modeled by myself using Bryce primitives and quite a bit of mat tweaking. This was a 5+ hour render time with a dual-core processor.

This is a great image! I love the intriguing spacecraft design and the quality of rendering all around. The sense of color and contrast is particularly strong since the vessel itself seems to be reflecting sunlight in it's harsher quality. Fantastic work, and I love the brewing dust storm. I know you are a stickler for not using 3rd party products, Keith, and making a spacecraft from scratch must have been a nightmare. But a nightmare with a great result! I didn't know about the dust storms, you've captured one, though!

Interesting design...it looks like a huge render job between the planet the stars...the cloud (s) & you very cool ship....it almost looks like a sub but with sail as in soular sail capabilities....humm. out side the box...I like it indeed...
