Description
Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image.
Here is one last image of a blue Dasher. This one is a mature male. His tail has turned a powder blue and his eyes are blue as well. The Dragonflies of this species are about 1 1/2 inch long. They are very territorial. They perch frequently. They are not overly skittish and they are probably the most numerous of all the species I have around my pond.
This image can be compared to the images of a young male and a female of the species that I have posted earlier this week.

Thanks for the invaluable information to this awesome shot Lee. love that shine on the eye!
amazing macro capture Lee !! love his blue eye always enjoy your fabulous bug captures!!!
How could one resist males with blue eyes!
Wow! I can see he will be a big hit with the ladies, thats some war paint he is wearing. Lol. Opposite to the human race I guess, with us it's the women that get all dressed up and paint their face, in the animal and insect world it is usually reveresed. This chap is no dissapointment to that rule. Excellent capture . Bravo!!!!!
great macro.
Really wonderful shot. I do see the differences but I'm tellin' ya, I wouldn't be able to tell anything if I saw them in my yard. Bugs seem to dash off in a panic when they see me...even the ones that are supposed to be laid-back and docile!!! Must have something to do with the smell of fear on me. LOL
Love that beautiful blue colors. Bunny
Dragonflies are my favourite!!! peace and love
