Description
This house is owned by the man I work for, one block from where I live. The tenants under eviction since last August, finally they were out as the first snow came but was immediately taken over by dealers.. Tuesday and Thursday I had to take pics for the owner.
The outside had tons of trash that I helped to clean up and the inside unfortunately is destroyed:-( I took more than 100 pics of the destruction inside, all light fixtures have been removed, wires ripped out, brand new carpets destroyed by dogs and filth, the paper on the sheetrock has been cut from ceiling to floor, most of the windows have broken out and screens cut, holes in the walls and ceilings, panels taken out of the doors, doorknobs gone, siding from the outside is inside torn up, appliances stripped and left on the floors...
but the most costly probably is that all copper plumbing was torn out, also the water meters and the water is gushing in gallons in the basement...no idea how long thats been going on. The city has to turn the water off from the street because there is no way from inside the house. The plan was for us to get the house ready for renting and it was also for sale, unknown now what will happen for sure but in all probability it will take more to fix it than to tear it down and start over...needless to say the owner is extremely unhappy...I was sickened by the needless destruction of this beautiful old house...but this is how it goes when a house is vacant in this area.
Thanks for looking and previous comments * for those who loved the baby squirrel, it is with great sadness that there will be no more pics as he has died *

Great story... hard to understand though.. particularly about the water flooding. Seems mindless. Sorry about the squirrel too.
yes...well done: ) alex
Great story and fantastic photo.
i'm saddened to see any old home go through such abuse and then its final fate, unfortunately as you already mentioned its usually cheaper to tear it down and put a new home up in many cases, excellent shot of such a sad moment in time.
MAKES ONE'S HEART SAD TO SEE HOW WE RESPECT OUR PAST AND LIFE TODAY!
Appalling events! Only too common in western 'culture'.
How sad, Lynn. Both about the house and squirrel. Sometimes it makes a person really wonder about the human race and their need to destroy beauty.
Lynn, why we never learn? there must be a reason in non-stop destroying ourselves. is out out there? so touching a story and capture.
Great shot! My congratulations!!! A hug from Argentina!! my friend!!!! ROBY
sadly, destroying seems to be the main purpose of human existence.
That is so sad that people are like that.
how tragic
same situation here. people do millions in damage robbing places of copper wiring. an unfortunate thief lost his life recently from electrocution. sad state things are in. when a house becomes vacant where I live they steal the coils from the ac units. next door's was taken. I stopped people twice from taking it but they managed while I was gone.if they they had taken mine, I would have a chance to get insurance to pay for a new one.mine is 23 years old
Sad - all of it :-(
