here they made a kils. Most likely I missed spelled the name here; anyway i do not know the name of this type of fireing or if it good for plates to eat off of or what. I asked no questions. Anyway I had no paper and pen to write it down and I would have forgot what they told me most likely lol.
I did not see them put the pottery in the kil I got there as they was fireing it up on saturday at dust time and I got bake to the place on Sundayand it was taken apart as you see in the last photo. The pottery on the table is what came out of it. All i know is this a old way of doing it and no air was blown in on the pottery.
One ask if my Dad smoked. No he did not; I do not also. My dad did not drink beer of any type drinks to get drunk. I stop that years ago. he 92 years old. Guess his body is breaking down. he do ride on a one wheel bike that do not move. he do other stuff to keep in shape too.

Nice set of shots, must have been hot getting those close up ones of the fire. I've never seen a demonstration where they build and tear down the kiln like that. You do seem to find all the neatest stuff to see. : )

Your capture of this homemade kiln is great. I don't think you can fire as much clay in a store-bought one. I love your photos of the process, start to finish. Wow, your dad is 92! You are so very lucky to have him all these years. I lost my dad when I was 36... that was 19 years ago. He was only 70. I wish I could have had him longer.

Your dad has had a very good innings then Jocko, 92 years old and still riding a uni-cycle. My dad died when he was 55, I was 12 at the time, I hope yours is still riding his bike when he's 100. Excellent montage Jocko, I have never sen a kiln like this before, I used to work in a brickyard, setting all the bricks inside the kilns before firing. Our kiln held thousands of bricks though. I also did every other job in the brickyard apart from blasting in the quarry. Superb capture and presentation, and a great narrative. Hope dads feeling better.
