morning all :o)
it seems i took 238 pics over last weekend mostly at south lakes wild animal park ,i did`nt realise i`d took so many :o)..
this is a pic of a mandrill ,mother and baby .i managed to get a bit of information for you.
This is the largest of the monkeys, it lives in Africa from south of the Sanaga river in Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Congo.
It grows to a shoulder height of up to 508mm . It can weigh up to 54 kg when fully grown.
This monkey has a dramatic coloured face area and the buttocks are also bright lilac.
The Mandrill is usually found in thick rainforest. Generally large adults spend most time on the ground with smaller females and juveniles preferring the trees.
They feed mainly on the ground searching for fruits, nuts, other plant material, mushrooms, invertebrates and occasionally small vertebrates.
They live in groups of around 20 individuals with one large adult male. Occasionally they get together in harems and form troops of 200 animals or more.
The record longevity of Mandrillus is 46 years. The gestation is 7.5 months and usually one young is born. This species is under growing threat in the wild from loss of habitat and bush meat trading.

You have to go a bit further to beat Alan Mick, he took 400+ at Crich, and I took 395. lol. Excellent capture of this colourful primate cuddling its youngster, she is holding that tight you can hardly see it. Alan and I are hoping to be going to Chester Zoo later next month, I don't know if you have been but it is quite a large place, I will have to get in touch with them to reserve an electric chair because I would not be able to cover the site otherwise. I used to love going there at one time but I have not been since Emma was a baby, about three I think so thats about 18 years ago. I'm looking forward to going. Superb work with this one, I look forward to the rest of the best. Bravo!!!!! I've deleted about twenty of mine so far.

Great capture, a lovely tender moment, and what a pose sat on the post like that! I think my brother lives, not too far from here Mick, he lives in Barow-in-Furness, I've heard him say he has taken his family to this Wild-animal Park a couple of times.
