Description
I'm so amazed. This morning I turn the tv on to catch the news and there's a reporter in Atlanta, talking about the tornado and winds that hit yesterday. He's walking along a sidewalk and the camera pivots to show a destroyed house behind him **how dramatic**. The guy says, "I'm standing in front of a house that was destroyed." **Really? We wouldn't have known this**. He then bends over and picks up a brick and states, "This is a brick from that house. There a lot of bricks scattered all around me." **No duh?**. He walks along, holding the brick,**isn't this looting?** explaining other things he has witnessed. A car windshield is broken **camera zooms in**. A piece of metal is in the road **camera zooms there**.
So why am I amazed? The technology it took for him to beam his story up to a satellite, then that beamed to the New York studio, then that beams back to a satellite and back down to my cable company and across town to my tv. That's amazing. All this so some putz can show me a brick, LIVE, in Atlanta, Georgia, three thousand miles away. I wish, just one time, that a homeowner would go grab his brick back, clock the idiot reporter in the head with it and tell him he's trespassing.
This wonderful world of the 21st Century is just so damned impressive I can barely stand it!

both the image and the analysis are great.
agreed. and the image is fantastic; wonderful light and i love the expression on the boy's face - spot on.
Very nice concept translation. Thanks for sharing.
Very creative...interesting image..well done...
They don't call it an idiot box for nothing.
Well, your last sentence darn near sums it up for me too. And, I'll bet the idiot pitched a brick through the car's window instead of the winds.
Well, you can cool it You can heat it 'Cause, baby, I don't need it Take your TV tube and eat it 'N all that phony stuff on sports 'N all the unconfirmed reports You know I watched that rotten box Until my head begin to hurt From checkin' out the way The newsmen say they get the dirt Before the guys on channel so-and-so (Trouble Every Day - Mothers of Invention)
Now this is crative and imaginative! Excellent
Intéressante image!
Cool story, sweet Image...
If the box is upside down shouldn't the picture also? LOL Great image.
ROFLMBO!!! Love it! You are sooo right! But hey, you got to see the brick right? LOL, ain't it the truth...
Love your picture. As for the homeowner clocking the journalist, now that's something I'd love to see as well.
So goes the demand for the "Idiot Box"!!! Cool image and thoughts!
you even have the tape. fantastic, I love it
fantastic image! And I agree with your statements, sometimes they do overstate the obvious dont they?
Great image and I have to agree with your statement too!
Agree with ya whole heartedly
Love the words of truth but I totally love the box that says it all dude
Lol - excellent observation. I love the image too:)
You and EnglishBob (& Frank Zappa of course) have summed it up. By the way, Great image, Ive seen that expression on my kids faces a few times. D
First, the image itself. Spectacular lighting, and very creative use of a cardboard box for a t.v. -^ Tell ya what, if I encountered a reporter on my street last year in the aftermath of the Groundhog Day tornadoes, he/she would have caught me cussing like a sailor -^ Sick to my stomach because at least 6 people died in my backyard. When looking at this image, Tool's Vicarious plays in my head -_^ Eye on the the TV 'Cause tragedy thrills me Whatever flavor it happens to be, like... "Killed by the husband" "Drowned by the ocean" "Shot by his own son" "She used a poison in his tea...kissed him goodbye" That's my kind of story It's no fun 'til someone dies
Hey Thats COOOOOOL
laighing, but not too loud I agree with you, 100%! Great idea and even greater execution! Very well done!
Awesome image of 21st living!! and I fully agree with your statement too!!
I like your image (as I do with all of them) and your commentary. On that note I want to add, I find it detestable when the various local governments and authorities use their power (ie, the guns of the police and national guard) in the aftermath of a natural disaster to keep people from returning to their homes and property in their efforts to salvage some portion of their belongings. Our individual rights and freedoms are increasingly being stripped away.
Great composition, good idea and fantastic work on the execution !
I agree. Excellent work and statment!
nice piece of work!!!
That is freakin Awesome!
