"But here by the mill the castled clouds Mocked themselves in the dizzy water." ~ Edgar Lee Masters
pteb recently asked if I ever did any cloudscapes in infrared. I have, and though there is a small strip of land and water at the bottom, I think this qualifies as well. To give you a sense of scale, the tall Lake Placid Tower seen between the two white topped water towers near the center is 27 stories tall. The tops of cumulonimbus clouds can easily reach 39,000 feet (3,900 stories or 12,000 meters) or higher. Upon its completion the then Placid Tower was the world's tallest concrete block tower. Postcards encouraged calling home from the highest pay phone in Florida. The observation deck provided a million-acre view of surrounding orange groves and lakes, but has been closed to the public in recent years. I kept the file rather large, and it is best viewed at full size. -----
Thanks for your vermillion comments on my previous upload,

Fantastic cloud formation, amazing capture. Tony :-)
This is amazing. The wide angle really captures the sense of size. Looks like quite a storm, too. thanks for sharing.

Thanks for giving us a real idea of the scale. Wow, awesome awesome AWESOME! I think this would qualify as a "Grand" capture~
Yes, looks like they're developing into a storm...stunning shot, very well done indeed!
IR seems to detail and cut edges well for clear distinction. This is most impressive for the size of this cloud build-up.
Absolutely wunderfiull... I adore Kort!
All the above in this magnificent capture, Kort! Love the subtle interplay of dark and light features within the huge cloud hanging over the landscape.

...love this cloud/landscape - especially on the zoom view with those sunlit towers standing out against the dark background...the small thin strip of land really works well here..& I like this subtle use of infrared.....very impressive photo.
Superb shot, Kort. I was amazed by the vertical scale even before I read the description.
