My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

phantastic shot.

This is lovely, Tara. Of course I can't compare it with the non-flash shots, but this certainly works. This light really brings out the colored parts of the glass.
MrsRatbag
Yes, I also like the flash on the glass -- it really makes the vase pop. Nice!
viper
I love that vase.

I have a helpful friend who also repeats the "flash" theory to me when I shoot something and, amazingly, sometimes he's right. :-) I do like the pattern that is emphasised in the glass in this shot.

What a fabulous drape vase. Excellent shot.

...intriguing photo -- it's making me seasick!! ---( kidding ) ---- love the sharp definition of the upper two thirds - ( which fades a tad towards the base ) ----- but overall - I think this image has a lot of 'snap' to it ...( and that's a good thing - don't you think ? )

Holy waveforms, Batman, how exquisite can you get? The image is so fantastic and captivating....why, I'm virtually lost for any words describing my reaction to this stunning macro! The curvature alone in amazing! Overwhelming, to say the least, and stellar in all aspects, my dear! Kudos to you and your photographer friend.

Sometimes I just take one image with the flash and one without just to see the difference? In your case it really paid off!!!! excellent!!!

Excellent shot- love how the vase turned out- it is interesting to use the flash during the day sometimes, it's amazing the difference it can make isn't it :)

I do that quite often Tara, take some with and some without, I usually go without. I have a hotshoe flash as well as the internal flash, I prefer the hotshoe for best results, it is more powerful but has a zoom and diffusion facility. Most shots however are taken without flash, especially my macro shots. I love this vase, what I refer to as milky glass, and I must say it has turned out pretty good using the flash. I hope you are going to post one without though so we can have a comparison. I think maybe the flash has brought out detail that we may not see in the other version. I would say this is an excellent macro, especially so because you are going against the grain by using flash other than ring flash. Well done. Bravo!!!!!
