Description
I did a double take when I saw this Rickshaw in Hong Kong. I had only seen one other rickshaw and he was stationed at the Wanchai Terminal of the Star Ferry waiting for tourists to have his picture taken for a fee.
Rickshaws were once the main mode of transportation in Hong Kong, but the Hong Kong government had quit issueing lincenses decades ago. This guy looked like the real deal, and he moved with alacrity, whether it was because he was on his way to pick up a fare, or whether he tried to stay alive, I don't know.
The sight of a rickshaw is rarer than seeing wealthy Chinese business men on their way to work in chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royces.
The bamboo scaffolding on the building in the background is common in Hong Kong. This picture was taken in January 1996 and was later scanned.

Thank you for this slice of the past, Sig. Another case of culture-clash.
Great capture again Sig. really interesting read. Unusual bit of scaffolding up the side of the building. looks to be all wood!!!
Greetings Siegried, There is almost a bit of humour here as the first thing that came to mind was that he was in a race with the truck, which reminded me of the turtle and the hare. Thank you for sharing. egmont
