Description
This is my son in an old train tunnel on the edge of Donner Lake, in Truckee, California. The tunnel has been abandoned, and there are big holes in the tops of them. When it rains, then snows, then freezes, it creates these huge 40 foot columns of ice; they're about 10 feet in diameter. He and his friends hike thru this tunnel on their way to snowboarding the back country, I don't even want to know any more about it than that!! Way too cold for me. BTW, this is a self portrait that h etook and I did some postwork on.

Cold cold cold these columns look gigantic but way too cold for me, but a brilliant picture.
Fantastic photo.
Fascinating! I'm still trying to figure out how those columns are formed. Remind me to ask you!
WOW! this is really cool Marilyn!
makes me cold looking at it! lol Very nice capture!
Awesome shot! Fantastic place!

Superb capture here. Aloha
so very ... cool. LOL
Fascinating information about those ice poles; a most unique shot, and very cool considering it's so cold in that tunnel, Marilyn! Oddly, the tunnel walls look like they're coated with green algae. And, your son looks so much like Rambo in this photo.
it's all good as they say... no but really... it's all good looking. the balance, coloring... would be cool to see those blocks of ice
what unusual formations this makes....nice shot
I'll say it again..cool shot..:)
Very interesting shot. I didnt think it ever froze in California.
Nice effect
Excellent picture. Todd
this looks almost a painting, well done
Good shot erland
This looks like home. In Ouray, Colorado we intentionally build huge ice columns against the walls of the canyon with water sprinklers in order to host the annual ice climbing competition.
