Description
This is a bw version with different crop of an image I posted in the Photography Forum Genre Challenge. I came to the challenge thinking personal relationships in Religion/Spirituality and not so much icons, buildings and images associated with such. My shot did not fare well and frankly was not well done. This version is better.
This shot was inspired by my gallery post two images back, “Walking the Tracks”. That area is the home of a subculture and night is when you do not want to be there. It is home of the dislocated, the homeless, the ones who want better and the ones who are adapted to that life and resist any outside efforts to help pull up their boot straps.
These are not untouchables. While some need desperately and desire to be touched and helped to a better life, others through a bend of the mind want no help and no change. The last ones have found a comfort zone with blessed little comfort.
The photo forum challenge winners are posted in a thread on the forum and are worth seeing. A fine lot of images came out for this genre challenge.

This is a stunning image, vaguely disturbing in what it implies. Your write-up is great, but the image itself stands wonderfully on its own. It holds a certain darkness that is both inviting, at least visually and in terms of photography, but repulsive in that it touches on an element of life that many of us would prefer not to even acknowledge...this image acknowledges it though. It doesn't throw it in our faces, but for those who know what telltale signs to look for, there's no avoiding the subject matter! This is a great work of art! Thank you for sharing it.

I think you made a statement here that is strong too. Yes many do not wish for help for they life style they choose to live and others do look for a way out but do not wish to stop what they doing. And others wish a way out and wish for a better life but do not know how. Here I see this person wishing for the loast thing I say; "a better life but do not know how." very powerful

Personal relationship is<?i> the core of any spirituality, if you ask me. And I did happen to carry a bible in my backpack some years ago so this brings memories. :-)
