Description
This is a close up of the mid section of a new engine retrofit for the USS Lewis & Clark, the Ion Thruster Engine. An ion thruster moves ions by electrostatic repulsion. Xenon propellant enters from the left. A cathode emits electrons which slam into the xenon atoms knocking loose an electron and creating positive xenon ions. The ions are pushed by gas pressure through holes in the positive grid. Then the electric field between the positive and negative grids accelerates the ions and sprays them out the back. The beam is neutralized by electrons. Otherwise the ions would be attracted back to the negative grid, canceling out the thrust. By this method the spaceship should be able to obtain a maximum velocity of 70,200 MPH. This was created in Bryce 5 from scratch all concepts and designs by me, concept for Ion thruster by JPL/NASA.
Thanks for viewing my work.

all i have to say is dam :D great work
Yet again you take Bryce modeling to a whole new level. Will you share with me how you made the Gold hoses?
Very nice work, and an effective render, though I suspect you had to work with the lights to get that stark "object in space" look. Hard to keep a balance between solar glare in vacuum, and keep- ing all the nurnies you worked so hard modeling so crisply visible!
WOW Dave! Nice to see a close-up! The detail just blows my feeble brain...you've effectively taken me out into space. I bet this was a long render!
very nice! this will get her to the outer solar system in a timely manor! cheers PE
Great model...great textures...great work!
Excellent work, great modeling and textures.
