Description
This was taken last year on my first visit to Ironbridge, a small village on the River Severn.
The world's first cast iron bridge was built over the River Severn at Coalbrookdale in 1779. Not only iron founders and industrial spies flocked to see this wondrous bridge, but also artists and travellers. The Bridge had a far reaching impact: on local society and the economy, on bridge design and on the use of cast iron in building. The story of the bridge's conservation begins in 1784 with reports of cracks in the Southern abutments, and is brought up to date with the English Heritage sponsored work of 1999.
This is the last picture from my visit to the Victorian Town of Blists Hill. I had to revert to an image from last year as this year, it was cold and misty and I did not feel up to it. Alan(artaddict2) however did get a beauty of a shot with the mist on the River Severn adding atmoshpere to his shot. Check out his page artaddict2.

excellent capture jeff and the tones really set off the mood .well done :o) mick
What a beautiful Bridge Jeff and capture, i would love to see the colour version of this photo.
Cast iron! Wow. You'd have to be very good to cast this without air of irregularities in the pieces and all segments would need to be put together just so to prevent stress in the wrong places. I love the deep arch in this and the details you have captured are fabulous!
wonderful capture...excellent work
One of my motorcycle routes takes me past the bridge. Cant ride across anymore, but the pub just up the road does an excellent pint of Bank's. On Sunday there are motorcycles everywhere! Excellent image Jeff! 5++
wonderful sepia tone good work.
I would think they only allow foot traffic now? awesome bridge and pov.in the middle of the river on a steady boat would be ideal, but we can not always have our way
