Description


Aim here was to try and rescue a dull picture I took a while back. I do like black and white for creating moods. The idea was to attempt to recreate the heavy atmosphere with skies full of fire and smoke. Would have been a scene from hell at one time with the pollution from the chimneys. Near Fayette, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, there are some blast furnaces not much beyond this era. Later it was the first appearance of the Michigan State Police though in the beginning they wore no uniforms to hide their offical status preventing strike violence. Looking at this I would bring up the comment made to me that "the British cast things in the ground." Just to remind us of how ancient a glimpse is.

Yes I agree the B/W is very dramatic, it just shows how postwork can change an ordinary photo into a master piece! Very well done!
