Description
Here's our buddy, Gordon, the Golden Garden Spider (argiope aurantia). I've seen a lot of these when I was growing up on the Texas coast but they didn't have as much silver in their 'coat'.
Brenda (aka justalice) has a great shot of it dining on some insectoid pest. See hers Here.
Thanks for looking!
Ken

Lovely ...... ooh, ick in its own way. Great shot bunny.
Well done.
Nice shot. I know it is hard getting spicer shots. Somehow the light doesn't shine right. This is a great capture. Aloha
excellent shot ,i never seen one like this before mick
Excellentes Foto!
I say step on it when no one's looking... normally I don't hurt spiders but that's because I can't see them so close up and notice how creepy they are! Excellent macro!
now that GUY is HUGE !! look at those legs !!! you were BRAVE!!!...wonderfully CAPTURED!
Great macro and wonderful details, I agree Gordon seems a lot more silver than the other regular Golden Orb Spiders (that's what they are called here in OZ) I guess he must have plenty of iron in his diet ! Well done & ~Cheers~ :o)
real good shot
Wonderful, I agree
What a very cool garden soider. When I was working on our house in the Woodlands last week there was a similar one in the garden. I had to duck to avoid messing up his web. Yes, the Texas ones here seem to have more black while that one has more white an fuzzier skin, perhaps due to snow? but don't they hide in winter anyway.
Excellent shot, looks very impressive. I've never seen this kind of spider before.
Love the light. :)
