Description
In memory of those who died in the Minneapolis Bridge Collapse 2007.
The remaining piers of a bridge stand as sentinels in a gleam of afternoon sunshine many years after it's suspension structure collapsed in the early 1950's. Newly married Keith Evans was driving a loaded stock-truck across the timber deck which collapsed under the load. The bridge spanned the Rangitikei River at a point where it has carved a 250 foot vertical canyon through the limestone-like Paapa Clay.
Needless to say there were no survivors of this tragedy. The bridge has since been replaced with a steel girder bridge.
