Description
Nikon 7900 image.
This is not one one my better photographs but it is such a neat image, I am posting it anyway. This is a male Eastern Pondhawk Dragonfly feeding on a male Eastern Amberwing Dragonfly.
I don't get many male Eastern Pondhawk pics because I don't see many and most of those that I do see, don't stay still long enough for me to get a shot.
This is also the only shot I have of one Dragonfly feeding on another.
One of the other interesting aspects of this image is that it gives a pretty good view of just how wide a Dragonfly can open it's mouth. The bottom jaw can swing down a remarkable distance.
Thanks to those who take the time to comment.

Great capture...
This is totally jaw-dropping in its compo! I never would have thought they ate each other. This is excellent, Lee!
Wow! Fantastic image, you sure know how to capture these critters. Thanks for taking time to drop in on my Out of Frame, I appreciate your comments and will take them on board, especially the nit picking, cheers for that.
not sharp enought... but a terrific document! do you live in the dragonfly land?
Magnificent capture!!!!!!!!!!!!Bravissimo!V:DDD.HUgsxx
Not too much sharpen, but a great moment. Good tones.
What a wonderful capture, love it!
Super details and clarity with this colours.. Super...!!!!
Amazing capture and the subject matter is far more important than the overall "quality". Not one of your most clear shots I agree, but a top-rate capture none-the-less with such a rare shot of this dragon in mid feed - SUPERB!! Excellent shot Lee. xx
Oh My! This is a fantastic shot! May not be as clear as usual, but the subject is superbly captured. Bunny
An interesting capture and what wonderful color ! Not sure why you felt it was not one of your better images. I liked it.
Excellent capture for sure Lee. I'd love to catch a bug at feeding time. This is COOL!
So Cool! The pondwings colours are stunning!
