Description
This is my interpretation of General Robert E. Lee's famous mount, Traveller, inspired by the incredible novel by the same name by Richard Adams. The story of the Civil War is told through the eyes of Traveller with his own unique equine perspective. One of the most touching lines in the book and which never fails to to move me deeply is where Traveller says" Horses are always saying goodbye." He makes you think a lot of what such a powerful and spirited animal as a horse is willing to do for us humans when their most basic primitive nature is as a prey/flight animal.
I dedicate this piece to all the noble horses who have served their masters so well and have fallen in battle over the many centuries.
Production notes: Posed and morphed in Poser 5, imported into Bryce 5 and texture maps applied there. Base render done in Bryce, postworked/ painted heavily in Photoshop CS with a Intuous 3 tablet. Daz Mil Horse, Daz English and Western Horse Tack for the Mil Horse and Daz Cannon Pack. Mane/forelock done with Ravenheart's Heavenly Hair products.

Fantastic! I have always had horses and I will have to get that book and read it. One of the horses I learned to ride on was named Traveler. he was old and full of arthritis, but he was a good boy. Fantastic render!
