Description
Nature has smiled to me the last few days with more and better shots of the Redwing Blackbirds and yesterday, this Great Blue Heron. I have several good images of this water bird and some "in-flight" shots. I hope to post the best of those soon. (The specks on the water are on the water, floating debris.)
Some 30 years ago we rarely saw Blue Herons on the local lakes. Then, the birds made a comeback and are more common. These large but gentle creatures avoid people and commotion, preferring a quiet stance on the shore edge,on a shallow bar or tree in the water where they feed.
Wing span is about 70 inches(1.75 meter).

A very good photo!
Nice one! I like 'em a lot, too! It's just - they are not THAT gentle. Be another Egret or Heron and intrude - you will learn very fast, that you don't mess with a Great Blue Heron!
I love the color of the water in this. Lovely shot, Tom. -M :^)
