Its amazing how fast the outer surface of this liquid lava will cool down and become hard as rock. Aloha and thank you for viewing.

Dennis....When the lava oozed had stopped and started to cool, we couldn't break skin after about 15 seconds. After 5-10 minutes, they said you can walk over the cooled lava but like you, I wont. The heat is to intense and the danger is there. Although we have walked over lava that has been in the cooling stage for about 1-3 hours, I would not recommend it as the surface heat is still like a frying pan. The skin crust was only about 2-3 inches in thickness and you could see the lava in the cracks. Our shoes were smoking and melting some. Thanks for asking. Aloha
